Matsunomi’s Expedition: A Quest Tour through the Japanese Garden
Did you know that spirits live in trees? In Japan, they are called Kodama. If Kodama inhabit a forest or park, it means everything is fine, and the trees are healthy. But the Kodama have decided to leave Düsseldorf's Japanese Garden. Why? They're upset!
What awaits you?
About the adventure
In Japan, people know a lot about gardens and each of their elements. But in Europe, people just walk, relax, and aren’t really interested in the structure of the garden. Without the tree spirits, the Japanese garden will gradually die. People have only one day to explore the Japanese garden, solve riddles, and make a good impression on the Kodama.
The spirit of the cedar, little Matsunomi, will guide you through the entire garden. You will search for plants and other objects using haiku poems as clues. Japanese traditions, poetry, botany, and adventure — what could be better for a family outing! You’ll need a phone with internet access, and optionally, headphones to listen to audio.
Meeting place
Japanischer Garten am Rhein, Nordpark, Kaiserswerther Strasse 380, Düsseldorf
