Ayla's Mysterious Journey in the Realm of Art
Once upon a time in the Rijksmuseum
Sometimes it can be hard to get children excited about visiting a museum. They might agree to go happily, but after half an hour, they might get bored and start asking for ice cream and a trip to the playground instead.
What if, instead of just visiting a museum, they stepped into a real fairy tale and became the main characters of the story?
Along the way, they would learn a lot about the history of the Netherlands and famous artists, closely examine masterpieces, and achieve success through the knowledge they just acquired.
We have created an audio fairy tale quest-tour that transports participants to an ancient, semi-fantastical Holland. They are approached by a commoner boy named Joost, a fisherman. His friend, Ayla, a girl from a well-off merchant family, has gone missing. She didn’t just disappear—Just would have found her easily if that were the case. Instead, she angered a powerful sorcerer (she’s quite a scamp) and ended up locked in the world of paintings.
Ayla leaves clues for Joost on how to find her, but she is very educated (and the sorcerer is on her heels), so the boy needs a helper to decipher the cunning hints.
Your child or children will become such helpers and assist in saving their best friend!
This quest not only inspires participants to learn and observe closely but also immerses them “inside” the world of paintings as that is where they search for the missing Ayla.
This approach brings the world of children closer to the world of art, translates complex terms into understandable language, animates, and invites them to explore painting in a fun and engaging way, ensuring they thoroughly enjoy the process of discovery.
